red light to Sinharaja

Sri lankan government desided construct a new road from Ilumbankanda , Kalawana to Sooriyakanda.this new road occupied a large area of sinharaja world heritage site. UNESCO is request a detail report about this new road.large number of environmental organizations battle against government. Sinharaga is the first natural world heritage in sri Lanka.

Beautiful Acavus snails


Genus Acavus is belongs to family Acavide.it is endemic genus to sri lanka.is Sinhalese these species known as weda golubella,puwak golubella.Genus Acavus is very ancient genus because there are some Acavus snail's shells are found in pahiyangala cave.Acavus snails are pulmonates.Normly pulmonates have very thin shells but in Acavus they have very thick shells and also all the members of genus Acavus Are very colorful.so it helps to get more attention to them.

Acavus genus consist by three species. thos species are
  • Acavus Superbus
  • Acavus hemastomata
  • Acavus phoneix
Acavus phoneix is the largest member in genus Acavus and Acavus phoneix has wide range of distribution. it has occur in all three major climatic zones (Wet Zone,Dry Zone and Intermediate Zone)
