Genus Acavus is belongs to family Acavide.it is endemic genus to sri lanka.is Sinhalese these species known as weda golubella,puwak golubella.Genus Acavus is very ancient genus because there are some Acavus snail's shells are found in pahiyangala cave.Acavus snails are pulmonates.Normly pulmonates have very thin shells but in Acavus they have very thick shells and also all the members of genus Acavus Are very colorful.so it helps to get more attention to them.
Acavus genus consist by three species. thos species are
- Acavus Superbus
- Acavus hemastomata
- Acavus phoneix
You says ''Acavus phoneix has wide range of distribution. it has occur in all three major climatic zones (Wet Zone,Dry Zone and Intermediate Zone)''. Need a clarification of this. Are they 'still' exists in all the three regions. I'm working on some archaic shells of Acavus found from dry zone.
ReplyDeleteyes still they are exist in all three regions. I have some site records representing all three major climatic zones however in the wet zone they are abundant compare to the other two regions. its nise to here that you were doings studies on snails
